Education Department
Santa Barbara Junior High School’s Special Education Department includes four full-time Special Education teachers and one part time Special Education teacher. In addition to providing instruction to students with Individualized Education Plans, each of these teachers also provides individual case management services to the students on their caseloads. Case management includes participating with the other members of the student’s IEP team to create and implement the educational program that the team has determined best meets the student’s individual needs. As determined by the IEP team, these services are provided on a continuum. All programs are coordinated with the general education program and core curriculum.
Students with IEPs are also supported by other Special Education staff, including DIS (Designated Instructional Services) staff, Instructional Assistants, IEP clerical support and a site Program Specialist. Santa Barbara Junior High is proud to be the only junior high school in the Santa Barbara School District with a site Program Specialist.
