About the Board of Education

In accordance with the California Education Code and other regulations, the Santa Barbara County Board of Education sets SBCEO and County Board policies, approves the SBCEO budget, approves the SBCEO Local Control and Accountability Plan, and serves as an appeals board for inter-district transfer requests, student expulsions, and charter school applications. The County Board of Education typically meets the second Thursday of each month at 2 p.m. at the Santa Barbara County Education Office - Cathedral Oaks Campus, Board Room, with a few exceptions throughout the year.
