The Department of Developmental Services is temporarily placing the Direct Support Professional Training (DSPT) on hold until June 30, 2020. DSPT is required by WIC section 4695.2(a). Direct support professionals are encouraged to use online resources posted on the Department's website at www.dds.ca.gov/services/dspt to keep abreast with current practices and procedures to provide the best care to consumers.
If you have any questions, you can email email@example.com or contact number 1.800.910.4604.
Welcome to the official website for the Direct Support Professional Training & Testing Program serving people on the coast from San Jose to Los Angeles.
This training program is offered by the College and Career Readiness/Career Technical Education Program of the Santa Barbara County Education Office. We provide training and testing for people who work in a wide variety of group homes.
Direct Support Professional Training & Testing is a mandatory statewide program for direct-support professionals, supervisors, and administrators who provide direct care in licensed Community Care Facilities.
We follow the procedures and instructions set by DDS and CDE for implementing the Direct Support Professional Training.
Only direct support staff, including supervisors and administrators who provide direct care, currently employed in Community Care Facilities (CCFs) vendored by the regional center are eligible to take the Direct Support Professional Training (DSPT). Registration for DSPT must be completed using the eDSPT online registration and certification system. DSPs must create their own account.
To register go to www.dsptrain.org. Have the following information available:
- Personal Email Address
- Phone Number
- Social Security Number
- Facility Vendor Number (where employed)
- Facility or Administration email address (where employed)
For assistance with registration, call the DSPT Helpine at 1.800.910.4604
Training Class attendance is very important. Direct support staff may not miss more than 6 hours of classroom instruction. If more than 6 hours of instruction is missed, the system will automatically drop the DSP and the DSP must take the entire year of training again.
Approximately 20 business days after completion of the Training Class or Challenge Test, direct support staff and the administrator of the facility they are employed in will receive an email notification of results (a Certification Notice, a Certification Notice with Additional Training Needed, a Failure Notice, or an Incomplete/Failure Notice). All Certification Notices can be accessed online at www.dsptrain.org. Failure notifications cannot be accessed online. Paper certificates will no longer be issued.
