About the Board of Education

In accordance with the California Education Code and other regulations, the Santa Barbara County Board of Education sets SBCEO and County Board policies, approves the SBCEO budget, approves the SBCEO Local Control and Accountability Plan, and serves as an appeals board for inter-district transfer requests, student expulsions, and charter school applications. Meeting Information

The County Board of Education typically meets the second Thursday of each month at 2 p.m. at the Santa Barbara County Education Office - Cathedral Oaks Campus, Board Room, or Santa Maria Office, Board Room. Board agendas, complete board packet information, meeting minutes, and video recordings of meetings are available HERE. What we do


The primary responsibility of the Santa Barbara County Board of Education is to work with the Santa Barbara County Superintendent of Schools to support the direction and priorities for the Santa Barbara County Education Office through its budgetary determinations and to provide leadership to support the success of public education.
