Full Day Center

Santa Barbara County Education Office’s Early Steps to Learning is an early education center serving children ages 3 to 5. The program is designed to support working families by providing quality childcare alongside a strong educational foundation for young learners.

Open 240 days per year, Early Steps offers a friendly, healthy, and developmentally appropriate environment where children can play, learn, and grow. Early Steps participates in Quality Counts California, keeping quality care and continuous improvement at the forefront of our work. We remain committed to strengthening services and ensuring every child receives the nurturing support needed to reach their fullest potential.

Caring for our youngest learners is essential, and we are proud to support the needs of our community because we know children go further with early education.

Part-Day Centers

Our part-day programs provide children with a friendly, safe, and developmentally appropriate environment where they can learn through play, build relationships, and grow socially and academically. We are committed to supporting the individual needs of families by offering parent education, information on child development, and direct connections to community resources. Children participating in our programs also receive nutrition services, health screenings, and social-emotional support to help them reach their fullest potential. We know children go further with early education.

Infant/Toddler Centers

Building Blocks Early Care and Learning Center supports teen parents by providing quality childcare services that allow them to continue and complete their education. While participating in the program, teen parents receive education and support in areas such as stress management, child development, positive parenting, and family well-being. Along with our Lompoc Cal-SAFE infant and toddler center, both programs provide supportive services for children and families. These programs are free for families who qualify and offer friendly, healthy, and developmentally appropriate environments where both children and parents can thrive.
Our staff also helps connect families with community resources and services to support the needs of the entire family. Children participating in our programs receive nutrition services, health screenings, and social-emotional support to help them reach their fullest potential. Caring for our youngest learners is essential, and we are proud to support families during this important stage of their educational journey. We know children go further with quality early care and education, and we are honored to be part of that process.
We know that children go further with quality early care and education, and we are excited to be part of the process.
