Post-COVID-19 teachers have reported an increase in challenging classroom behaviors, and SBCEO provides training to help support early childhood educators. 

The Inclusion Initiative offers a range of training opportunities designed to help educators and school administrators create more inclusive learning environments for all students. This includes training on shifting common classroom practices and strategies for supporting students with disabilities, including children with severe disabilities, as well as workshops on creating inclusive classrooms and promoting positive social and emotional learning.

Roundtable is an organization that provides support, training, technical assistance, and mentorship for centers and providers participating in the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP).

To qualify for payments for your training you must enrolled in the Workforce Registry and all applicants must be:

• Employed in the same childcare program for the past 6 months

• Employed in a program enrolled in Santa Barbara Quality Counts highly encouraged

• Employed in a program accepting funding from the State of California (i.e.: payment vouchers, alternative payment, CalWorks)

• Regularly scheduled as a teacher, teacher assistant, and/or aide to work directly with children at least 25 hours per week in a licensed or license-exempt facility with children ages 0- 5

Our coaches (through Quality Counts California) conduct classroom observations followed by team meetings that include the teachers, internal coach, administrator, and other support professionals such as mental health consultants. The meetings give staff opportunities to reflect together and to strategize about the practical application of tools in the classrooms. The coach facilitates the creation of a plan that captures strategies needed for teachers to put them into practice. 

Expanding your services without attention to quality will not deliver positive outcomes for children or long-term productivity benefits for society. That’s why Quality Counts California (QCC) provides resources and support for early learning and care providers to connect program standards to positive child outcomes and promote quality programs.

QCC coaches use the Quality Rating and Improvement System (QRIS). QRIS is based upon a set of standards for helping infants, toddlers, and preschool-age children develop intellectually, physically, socially, and emotionally. 

The rating system provides a framework for early learning professionals to identify opportunities for improvement, increase their skills, and take steps to make positive changes.
