About Our Program

  • The Santa Barbara County Education Office offers a variety of credentialing programs and services. Credential counseling and assistance with applications to the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing are part of our Credentials Services.

  • Credentialing Grants

    SBCEO Credentials Services administers two grant programs to support new educators.

    • Local Solutions to the Shortage of Special Education Teachers Grant is available to individuals who are currently pursuing Education Specialist Instruction Credentials for teaching Special Education and to Special Education teachers carrying student loan debt who were granted their credential in California after June 30, 2014

    • Santa Barbara County Classified Credentialing  Consortium (SBC4) Grant supports classified staff with SBCEO, or with any of the school districts/charter schools in Santa Barbara County, who are pursuing Education Specialist, Multiple Subject, or Single Subject Credentials, or who are working to complete bachelor degree programs to then pursue one of these credentials.

    Additional Resources

    Application for Temporary County Certificate allows an educator's employing district to request temporary certification while a qualifying credential/permit application is being processed by CTC and operates similar to a temporary driver license
