April 3, 2020 + Updated FAQs on Pay & Leaves

Dear SBCEO Family,

It was really wonderful to see many of you on the Zoom “coffee break” this afternoon. Nico Fox, the 6-week-old son of Erika, made a special guest appearance with his mom.   If you didn’t get to participate, ask Keith Cox about his handwashing song and Hermie about her recipe for hand sanitizer. We look forward to other opportunities to connect in the near future!

If you’re interested in learning more about how to use Zoom, from the basic level to advanced techniques, our Curriculum & Instruction staff is offering remote office hours. Starting on Thursday, April 9, and on Mondays and Thursdays thereafter, Zoom-trainings will be available from 3:30-4:30 p.m.  To sign up, please complete this form

The FAQ about leaves and pay during this pandemic has been updated to reflect the new types of paid leave that are available to eligible employees due to COVID-19 related circumstances. You can find the FAQ here.  If you have additional questions, please contact a member of the Human Resources staff.

The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and public health agencies have revised their recommendations on masks.  While masks are not a replacement for social distancing, cloth masks are encouraged for each person who needs to leave their home to perform essential tasks such as going to work, and getting groceries and prescriptions.  New data indicates people can have COVID-19 up to 48 hours before they show symptoms.

Finally, the Family Service Agency is one of the many non-profit agencies in our community that is available to help anyone who needs assistance – whether it is a need for shopping and prescription pick up or talking through problem-solving/solutions as a parent or family.  Call 805-965-1001 or visit them online at FSAcares.org.

I hope you have a safe, healthy, and relaxing weekend,

Susan
